That stupid miracle bra that is all over Instagram. You know the one… it’s got that stringy bit it the front that pulls the ladies together & keeps those bitches up and perky as all hell.

I swear, I need to stop shopping when I’m bored or overly stress and engage in better extra curriculars… that aren’t so bad for my wallet and maybe better for other aspects of my life, ya know something other than the gym. Genre: YA Fantasy/Fairytale Retelling

Release Date: May 9, 2016
Publisher: Clean Teen Publishing

ISBN: 978-1634221719
ASIN: B01BPVZPB6

Pages: 302
Goodreads Rating: 3.48
My Rating: 4.5

Book Description:

Magic can do a lot—give you flight, show you mermaids,  help you taste the stars, and… solve the budget crisis? That’s what the grown-ups will do with it if they ever make it to Neverland to steal its magic and bring their children home.

However, Gwen doesn’t know this. She’s just a sixteen-year-old girl with a place on the debate team and a powerful crush on Jay, the soon-to-be homecoming king. She doesn’t know her little sister could actually run away with Peter Pan, or that she might have to chase after her to bring her home safe. Gwen will find out though—and when she does, she’ll discover she’s in the middle of a looming war between Neverland and reality.

She’ll be out of place as a teenager in Neverland, but she won’t be the only one. Peter Pan’s constant treks back to the mainland have slowly aged him into adolescence as well. Soon, Gwen will have to decide whether she’s going to join impish, playful Peter in his fight for eternal youth… or if she’s going to scramble back to reality in time for the homecoming dance.

My Take on the Book:

When it comes to my sister and I, we couldn’t be more different. The same could be said about Rosemary and Gwen, the 2 sisters in this book. My sister is “dead inside” – her words not mine lol – and I am a bleeding heart. But even with our differences, there are some similarities and a connection you can only find with siblings. We annoyingly finish each other’s sentences or blurt out the same sarcastic thoughts. It’s a bond that comes for a lifetime of each other’s influence.

So being the bleeding heart that I am, I am not ashamed to admit that I did my fair share of sniffling in this book. It’s not a sad tale at all. At least not as far as I  can tell but there are some inevitable moments where adulthood and reality rush in and damage the beauty and innocence of being a child. To me that was the most profound message in this book. But like many would say… no one in the world reads the same book, so it is likely that no one else will see what I see when I’m taken on this marvelous journey.

It was an extremely well written book and the beginning of what I can only assume is a new and unique series. I loved every minute of this book; and let me be clear, I devoured this book in what felt like minutes. There was strong character development, imagery, scenery.laughter and sadness and even a bit of envy while reading this book… in my opinion all the things that make a book more than just good, but great.

My only real complaint was the open ended final chapter. If this is indeed the beginning of a series, it’s a good way to gather more readers since you are literally left thinking ‘what the heck just happened’.

4.5 Quills

It’s interesting because other than some internal conflict and the mention of a war and a few moments that reflect that war, there was really no conflict. No clear “villain”and no clear “resolution” and yet I love this book. It’s odd because that’s nothing at all like me. I usually need a clear beginning, middle and end with all the fixings, and while the story itself was easy to follow it almost came off as a steady stream of information. With the book being called the Neverland Wars, I kind of expected a bit more conflict. But regardless it was an enjoyable read that likes to poke at emotions.

My Take on the Book:

Eepp! I love this!!!

Having read/reviewed a previous novel from this author I knew I’d like this book but I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. This was a super quick read for me and I greedily took in every page and scene.

In this book you are introduced to some great characters that are easy to like and grow fond of. Another good note is that you do get to have alternating POVs so there aren’t very many gaps in this story in terms of story progression.

I can’t say enough about this book and yet I’m fearful of saying too much and ruining the experience for all of you! But I will say that not everything is at it appears and you should read this book with an open mind because chances are, if you’ve guessed how something is going to go, that you are wrong.

5 Quills

Here’s to hoping that there is a sequel to this book in the works, so I can read more about these characters! There were a lot of unanswered questions and it did finish off as open ended so that’s another reason to hope for a follow up.

It’s a solid read that is sure to enthrall and entice you. Kudos to Ms. Lepore for creating such a vivid world with such interesting characters.

Book Description:

Each heartbeat leads Joss closer a shocking truth that will change everything.

Joss Olstad wins the fight to switch from her private school to a public high to “find her pieces” she lost when the Indian artist father she never knew died. There, Joss struggles with a slutty friend, who flirts with her new love; Indian Culture Club girls who press her on her past, as well as her stoner mother’s lies back at home. Armed only with her handmade heart boxes that hold private messages, Joss’s search for identity leads her to a scary industrial section of Queens, and a shocking family secret that changes everything.

My Take on the Book:

That was so stinking cute, I don’t even know what to do with myself right now!

This was a lovely coming of age story that completely exceeded my expectations. It is nothing at all what one expects and the author almost seems to go out of her way to make things go differently than the expected norm.

Joss is a great lead, stumbling through life trying to find out who she is all while managing her first real relationship and a new school. Will is also a great smolder-y lead male that perfectly complements Joss and always seems to have the right words to help her make her own way.

The dynamics in this story are a lot more complex than they first appear and I find that really refreshing. Honestly none of the characters acted the way I expected and everything I thought would happen didn’t. That alone made this a fresh new read for me because it was literally an unexpected journey.

5 Quills

I really enjoyed this book and I think it’s a great read for everyone, but I do plan on purchasing 2 copies in the near future. One copy will be for myself and the other for my niece who is just starting to find her place in the world.

Give this one a try, I’m almost positive its time well spent and I’ pretty darn sure that you’ll love it as much as I did.

My Take on The Book:

Wow
That was awesome . At first I was 100 percent sure how that story has characters very strong from the beginning and the story seems to thrust you into a world that already has so much going on . Luckily, the story finds a seamless way to introduce you to past events and what makes all these characters tick.

I really enjoyed the new world and all the inner workings of their ‘hierarchy’. The characters are not the kind you can ignore and I couldn’t help but love them. I do admit though that there were plenty of times that said characters pissed me off… they were extremely stubborn after all but for the most part I found them to be really enjoyable and I liked the unconventional romance. I also really liked how different the supernatural beings are in this book.

I look forward to reading book 2 ‘Forest Fire’ because this definitely ended with a cliff hanger! But I think this is a solid read that most of you are going to enjoy 🙂

Fan Made Book Trailer
My Take:

Hmmmm

I’m kinda at a loss for words. While i did fully enjoy this book there was a lot that I didn’t.

I like the originality of the shifter werewolf thing going on in this book, end I like the different route of this romance book but I can’t say I was fully a fan of the main character Paige. There were even a couple of moments where I didn’t even like Riley. Walt they worked well together and made for really nice storybook romance, they both had this naivety to them the made it difficult for me to like them on their own.

I also wasn’t a fan of all the predictability that took place in the story but I did enjoy the refreshing themes. The whole take on this story’s werewolves is a pretty cool one and not something I can honestly say I have ever heard of or read in another book.

4 Quills

I think the positives, outnumber the negatives so I definitely recommend this book to somebody who enjoys shifter romances. And while I did have some problems with the story and the flow, I was more interested in seeing how the story played out.

My Take:

 Wow. Just wow.

I was initially intrigued by the synopsis of this book, but I wasn’t sure how everything will pan out. It could have been a great book, or something that’s been to the category of notoriously bad reads. Luckily, this turned out to be a great read.

From page 1, the first sentence, I was hooked. It didn’t take long for me
to be invested in Presley or to become way too curious. There were a lot of moments where the characters annoyed me, but it was to be expected. What they had to go through, is not something someone deals with on a day to day basis so their reactions were warranted; I just happened to be a very impatient woman.

The progression of these characters relationships was also something very
spot on. It was very realistic and none of this instantaneous I love you nonsense, that while I occasionally adore in a book with a supernatural quality, I was happy to find that the author took note that this was not that kind of story.

And while this story, this book did have a legitimate ending, I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a little bit sad is that this journey has come to an end.

5 Quills

All good things must come to an end, and this was definitely go so it’s not surprising that it did indeed finish, but I am a little disappointed that there will be no more Presley, no more Sam and no more Bauer. I really grew to love these characters and I admit that I would really like to know more about them and where the story could possibly go. Kudos to the author for writing such a unique and riveting tale.
