A playboy in hiding
A woman searching for answers
Will he let her in or send her packing?
After a tragic accident, Chef Chase Fitzgerald left his life in Los Angeles behind and moved to a ranch in Montana. He’s convinced that all he needs to be happy are his horses, a few ranch hands and the Big Sky Country. Until one day, Nikki Savoy walks through his doors with her city clothes, sexy mouth, and a body designed to drive a man insane.
Nikki wants to know the truth about the accident that left her sister in a coma. Getting a job at Chase’s ranch is just the beginning. Throw in a crafty housekeeper, a cantankerous old cowboy, a few adorable horses, and an attraction that can’t be denied, and you have a recipe for disaster or romance. Will Nikki get her answers or will Chase offer her something better?
“I have papers in case you’re thinking of firing me,” she said as though she’d read his mind.
“I was not thinking of firing you, Ms. Savoy.”
She laughed, and the effect on him was worse than her smile. The sound swirled around him, making him feel both excited and weak. His heart pounded in his chest like Thunder’s hooves sprinting through the meadow.
“Good, because you’re lucky I agreed to come out here,” she continued, oblivious to her effect on him. “There’s a long waiting list for my one-of-a-kind websites, but I managed to squeeze you in. For a hefty fee, of course. I don’t come cheap.”
“I meant, I’m not thinking of firing you,” he snapped. “I am firing you.”
She blinked then shook her head.
“No, no, no.” She wagged her finger like a schoolteacher reprimanding a student, though she looked nothing like any teacher he’d ever had. “You can’t,” she added, digging into her bag. “I have a contract. Right. Here.” She whipped out an envelope and waved it triumphantly. “It states that I’m here to set up your website. In exchange, I get room and board. It is very legal and binding.” She offered it to him and waited expectantly.
Chase hated the fact that she wasn’t easily intimidated. The women his uncle had sent before would be in tears by now, begging him to let them stay or to be taken to the nearest airport.
“I didn’t sign it, so technically I’m not obligated to honor it. I’m sorry you made the trip out here for nothing, Ms. Savoy.”
“Your uncle said you need me, Mr. Fitzgerald.”
Need her? Miss June, with her prefect lips, brought to mind a different kind of need. There was no room on his ranch for someone like her. She’d only remind him of what was missing in his life, the dream he’d meant to share with one woman.

Pairs skater Emily Petrov embraces romance. She and her husband Sergei still act like honeymooners two years after their wedding. Excerpt From Fighting for The Edge
“Bust a Move” had just begun playing, and Chris danced along to the hip-hop rhythm as he closed the space between Aubrey and himself. He set his hands lightly on her hips, and she felt the tingle again. It had been over a month since she’d gone on a date, so she was probably just excited to have the attention. Or maybe it was the wine making her giddy.
Their bodies moved together in time to the music, drifting closer and generating more heat with each beat. Aubrey wrapped her fingers around Chris’s biceps, and he tensed, his fingertips putting more pressure on her hips. She clutched him harder and fought the urge to roam her hands over all his other taut muscles.
In her stiletto heels she wasn’t much shorter than Chris, so she had a prime view of his smile, which never left his face. She couldn’t stop smiling either. She hadn’t felt this kind of energy in a long time. Or possibly ever.

Tally Haslam has too much to deal with. An herbalist and aromatherapist, her latest creation – an aphrodisiac potion – remains in unsaleable condition as she has nobody to test it with. And, much to her annoyance, she sleepwalks.
Hoping to get away from it all for a weekend, Tally travels to nearby Madigan Hall for their yearly Paranormal Evening—but on the first night she wakes up outside the bedroom of another guest: Kyle Hunter, who has chosen to pleasure himself with the door open. Tally escapes without being seen, but is unable to get Kyle out of her head—especially when she finds herself at the same table at him the following evening.
However, Tally’s world is turned upside down when, at the paranormal dinner, she encounters the ghost of the Blue Lady, who seems determined not to leave her alone—and shows a disturbing penchant, when Tally sleepwalks again, for leading her astray…
My Take On The Book:
What can I say about this short book? Nothing more than, it was awesome. It was a surprisingly quick read, very to the point. The story picks up with our main character Tally sleep walking, a recurring theme throughout the story and jumps right into things. It literally had it all, the paranormal, the romance and the steamy scenes that we adults look for in the adult reads.
The storyline was tied together very well leaving almost no questions unanswered. The book was also well written with the exception of a few scenes. But the mistakes weren’t glaring and in no way did it leave you confused. Since this was such a short read that I was able to knock out in just about 35 minutes, (yeah I’m weird, I time myself) I’m only gonna do a quick Pros and Cons List.
The Great (Pros):
- Kyle. Sexy and funny and a complete smart ass. A great love interest.
- Ashlee. Kyle’s sister. She was way out there and definitely in a good way. She was friendly to Tally and I loved the banter between her and her brother.
- Tally. Tally had her stupid moments, ok, they were very stupid moments. She liked to over think things but she was a great main character.
- The paranormal storyline. Ok I know that is a bit vague as far as bullets go but that is really all I can say. Sure the sexy scenes where downright steamy, but it was the actual storyline that was my favorite. I also really enjoyed how the author made this storyline work in such a short book.
The Not So Great (Cons):
- Length. There weren’t very many cons other than my turning the page at the end and feeling let down that it was over.
- Inconsistencies. There were a few of these littered throughout the story. Most notably, the sex scenes. The characters weren’t doing any weird acrobatic or almost physically impossible moves that I couldn’t envision, it was just the minor details that the author overlooked that I as a reader could not. For example in one of the scenes it is mentioned that she’s not wearing underwear under her nightgown but later in the morning she’s looking for them and a few more sentences with said underwear commence.
- Grammatical errors. Once again nothing to big, but I did do my little weirdo twitch in a few parts when I noticed them. For example, the word a instead of an and so on. Like I said nothing too drastic.
- Lack of Kyle info. Off the bat, other than what he looks like nude then dressed and the smart ass comments, you’ve got next to no info of the loveable oaf. You don’t know much about him. Sure you know he’s a skeptic and that he’s only at this convention for his sister but as a love interest for the main character, short story of not, I would like to know a little basic knowledge about him. Where does he work? Things like that.
A short read, but a great read. I would definitely recommend this one to basically anyone that enjoys these short paranormal reads with steamy scenes. Enjoy the Guest Post and Excerpt Below.
A French Girl in New York
Release Date: December 12, 2012
Maude Laurent is a spirited 16 year- old orphan who grew up in a small, provincial town in the North of France with a passion for piano and a beautiful voice. One day in Paris, she is discovered by an American music producer who takes her to New York to live with him and his close-knit family while producing her first album, with help from teen pop star, Matt. Maude will dive into a new fascinating world discovering New York City, music, family, love and the truth about her past.
“Okay, I’m done. Now hurry!” the makeup artist cried out. “You’re up in two minutes.
Don’t you dare mess up your makeup again!”
Maude ran out, keeping her hands away from her recently rouged cheeks, and Matt
hurried behind her.
She stood right behind the curtain and listened to the host’s cheerful voice, announcing
“Now ladies and gentlemen, we have a new artist with us tonight. She’s spent her last
six months in New York working on her first album. Her first single has been released and is
a huge hit . . .”
“Maude,” Matt whispered, tugging her sleeve.
“Yes?” She looked back at him, smiling.
“I just wanted to tell you . . . to let you know that you can always count on me.”
“I know, Matt,” Maude smiled gratefully.
“Her voice will take your breath away, her music is amazing . . . ”
“No, I’m serious. Our friendship has had its ups and downs, but I don’t want it to be that
“I don’t care if you’re with Thomas Bradfield. As long as you’re happy, I’m happy.”
Maude paused, puzzled. “What? Thomas Bradfield—”
“Give a round of applause for Maude Laurent!” the host cried.
“That’s your cue! Go!” Matt urged.
Maude reluctantly turned away from Matt and hurried on stage.
The blaring lights blinded her as she entered the stage and faced the cheering crowd.
She had to restrain her impulse to shield her eyes and continued steadily towards the dark
She had played on it earlier but then, she hadn’t felt nervous. Her hands hadn’t been
trembling, and her voice hadn’t been shaky.
Maude sat on the piano stool and looked towards the crowd.
They were all there.
