Things get increasingly dangerous once Winter arrives in Seoul. Aided by her friends Jesse and Sebastian, Winter attempts to infiltrate an international corporation to get close to her target, a nefarious businessman named Kyung. But keeping her last remaining loved ones out of the line of fire proves difficult, and when all seems to be lost, Winter must face one last devastating decision: is revenge worth sacrificing everything for? Or can she find a spark of hope in the darkness that threatens to engulf her?

My Take on the Book:
Whoa whoa whoa. I’m a bit late to this party and I’m a bit mad at myself because I honestly can’t believe that it took me this long to find out about Paula Stokes and this duology. I’m shook.
While I normally steer towards the more supernatural, paranormal or even dystopian novels I often enjoy novels that are stepped more in fact than fiction. This set of books does a great job of mering the real with fiction. While the ViSe recording technology that a good portion of these books focus on does not exist in our present day world, they did not seem too unbelievable or far off from reality.
I was particularly fond of the character developments, mainly Winter’s. I think Stokes did a great job portraying this character and shinning a light on the complexities of mental illness while helping to cast aside the stigma that surrounds it. In addition to these thoroughly fleshed out characters, I found myself really enjoying the romance. Most appealing to me was that this was not a instantaneous connection but rather a slow burn romance that started well before we were even introduced to the characters in book 1. It helped to make this story more realistic.

I can’t wait to get my hands on more books my Paula Stokes because if these two were anything to go by, this author is extremely talented. Loved this duology and I can’t recommend it enough. This series was well worth muddling my already hectic schedule and coming out of hiatus to review. If you like action and mystery these are the books for you. The technology in these books gave me a J.D. Robb type feel but the writing is not like any I’ve encountered before, making this an original and well thought out story!

The Howling Heart Review + #Giveaway
Soon, she’s engulfed in the mystical world of Varulv—wolves descended from 13th century Scandinavia and blessed by Norse gods with the ability to appear human. Paige is desperate to return home, but never expects to fall for her rescuer, Riley Gray, a charming young werewolf from England who offers her an alternate future with his pack.
Now, she must choose between the career she’s always wanted and the love she’s always dreamed.
Hmmmm
I’m kinda at a loss for words. While i did fully enjoy this book there was a lot that I didn’t.
I like the originality of the shifter werewolf thing going on in this book, end I like the different route of this romance book but I can’t say I was fully a fan of the main character Paige. There were even a couple of moments where I didn’t even like Riley. Walt they worked well together and made for really nice storybook romance, they both had this naivety to them the made it difficult for me to like them on their own.
I also wasn’t a fan of all the predictability that took place in the story but I did enjoy the refreshing themes. The whole take on this story’s werewolves is a pretty cool one and not something I can honestly say I have ever heard of or read in another book.

In her quest to discover the truth, Presley’s relationship with Sam deepens, her feelings for Bauer are tested, and it becomes clear that her own mysterious past is somehow connected to these strange events.
But is she strong enough to handle the truth when it is finally revealed?
Wow. Just wow.
to be invested in Presley or to become way too curious. There were a lot of moments where the characters annoyed me, but it was to be expected. What they had to go through, is not something someone deals with on a day to day basis so their reactions were warranted; I just happened to be a very impatient woman.
spot on. It was very realistic and none of this instantaneous I love you nonsense, that while I occasionally adore in a book with a supernatural quality, I was happy to find that the author took note that this was not that kind of story.

Claire Daly: Reluctant Soul Saver
Michele Brouder
Genre: Young Adults Paranormal Romance

ISBN: 978-1515080503
ASIN: B015NCLL02
Pages: 204
Goodreads Rating: 3.71
My Rating: 4.5
Book Description:
When seventeen-year-old librarian wannabe Claire Daly is dragged kicking, screaming and cursing from everything she loves—her mam, her cozy Irish village and the dreamy boy next door—to take up arms in the battle of good versus evil, she learns the hard way that sometimes you don’t get to choose your own destiny, destiny chooses you.
Claire’s life plan is simple: head off to university to get her degree in library studies, summon up the courage to tell her best friend Chas that she loves him and live happily ever after. She never once entertained the idea that she might possess divine powers, that she might be predestined to battle Hell’s demons, or, to complicate matters further, that another love of many lives past might turn up on her doorstep. But life doesn’t always go as planned, and when a co-worker is viciously attacked by a demon and her own family threatened, Claire must face the truth: she is called to a higher purpose and has no choice but to answer. Claire sets aside her dreams and begins learning how to deal with the Unholy once and for all. Armed with only a crash course in soul saving and her wits, she gears up for the ultimate show down in Hell. But will it be enough?
My Take:
That was amazing!
I had high hopes for this book, and to be quite frank I wasn’t sure it was going to pan out when I first started reading this book. It wasn’t that it was bad or the writing was hard to follow but more that Claire seemed to annoy me more than anything. I really wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about a book with a lead I couldn’t stand. Luckily for all involved, Clare kind of grew on me. I’m still not her biggest fan but I do enjoy the story, the history, and the premise. It also doesn’t hurt that I enjoyed the other characters.
The storyline is really original and captivating. So while Claire wasn’t my favorite character at first, the story itself was more than enough to keep me hooked. Now if you are wondering why Claire was not my favorite heroine… simple, she was overly childish most times. She also can off as selfish and a wee bit naive.
4.5 Quills
So Claire wasn’t the most likeable, but the storyline was and the author is extremely talented if she can manage to keep me 100% invested even when the lead drives me bat shit crazy. It was that great writing that ultimately made me a ‘reluctant’ (see what I did there) fan of Claire. Because, even with all her faults, Claire does have moxie!

About The Author
I was born in western New York, the oldest of 5. I’ve loved reading since I was very little. From the age of 9, I’ve wanted to be a writer. In high school, I wrote a lot of angst-ridden civil war dramas ala Gone With The Wind, knowing more about the Battle of the Bull Run than a normal teenager should know. I dabbled in writing after that but didn’t get serious about it until 2006, when I decided that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
I’ve had many interesting jobs but my passion has always been writing.
I lived in Ireland from 2006-2013 with my husband and 2 boys. We moved back to the US and settled in Florida briefly (2 years) before returning back to Ireland in August 2015.
